NCERT Chapter Summary: Units and Measurement

Some of the common systems of units that are used in physics are: CGS system, FPS system, MKS system, and SI system.

Fundamental Quantity: Certain quantities have been chosen as fundamental quantities because Physics is considered to be quantitative science. They are:

  1. Length
  2. Mass
  3. Time
  4. Electric Current
  5. Thermodynamic Temperature
  6. Amount of Substance
  7. Luminous Intensity

SI Unit: The term stands for International System of Units which has regulated seven base units to be used to represent quantity around the world. These units are:

  1. Metre
  2. Kilogram
  3. Second
  4. Ampere
  5. Kelvin
  6. Mole
  7. Candela
