A farmer and his wife lived in a village with their son. They wanted a pet who can be a companion for their son. The farmer’s wife liked the idea. The farmer brought a tiny mongoose who will be a friend to their son. The mongoose grown to its full size in 5 or 6 months, but the farmer’s son was still a baby in the cradle.
The farmer’s wife wanted to go for shopping. She did not want to leave the baby alone in the house with the mongoose as she was afraid of the mongoose. The farmer told her that nothing will happen to the baby. She went out and the farmer also moved out to take a look at his fields. The farmer met some of his friends and did not return for quite some time.
The Farmer’s Wife Killed the Mongoose
The Farmer’s wife returned home with a basketful of groceries. She noticed that the face and paws of the mongoose were covered with blood. She thought that the mongoose has killed her baby. She behaved like a mad person and brought down the heavy basket full of groceries on the mongoose. The mongoose died on the spot.
The Farmer’s Wife Realised that the Mongoose has Saved her Baby
The Farmer’s wife ran inside the room and saw her baby was asleep. She saw a black snake was lying dead on the floor. The farmer’s wife realized her mistake that she killed the mongoose out of rage. She has acted hastily. She ran out looking for the mongoose who was already dead. Her baby started crying and she went inside to feed the baby.
